More Dates for Bird Hunting in Texas

Here’s some more info on the upcoming bird hunting in Texas season dates and limits for Dove.

The bird hunting season will be 70 days.

North & Central Zone will open 9/1/10 (Wednesday) and close 10/24/10 (Sunday)

North & Central Zone will reopen 12/25/10 through 1/9/11.

The daily bag limit is 15 with no more than two white tipped doves.

The South Zone will open 9/17/10 (Friday) and close 10/31/10 (Sunday).

The South Zone will reopen on 12/25/10 and close 1/18/11.

The daily bag limit for bird hunting in Texas is 15 with no more than two white-tipped doves.

Th possession limit is twice the daily bag limit for all migratory game birds except light geese, sora and Virginia rails.

There is a Special White-winged Dove Area in South Texas.  It will open to white winged dove in the afternoon only (noon to sunset) for the first two full weekends in September – 9/4 – 5 and 9/11 – 12.  The season will reopen with the regular South Zone season.  During the early two weekend in the Special White winged Dove Area, the daily bag limit is 15 birds with no more than four mourning doves  and two white tipped doves so look closely before you shoot!

Also be sure to take special care to ensure your safety and the safety of other hunters while you are bird hunting in Texas – that’s a lot of guns out there, so be careful!
